Hi-BITS General Assembly M12: Steering Progress Toward Solar Innovation
On October 9, 2024, the Hi-BITS consortium gathered for its General Assembly at Martin-Luther University Halle-Wittenberg in Germany, marking a key moment in the project’s development.
This meeting, which brought together leading researchers, industry partners, and project stakeholders, was an important opportunity to reflect on achievements and set the course for the upcoming phases of the project.
Hi-BITS is a pioneering project under the Horizon Europe program, aimed at advancing the performance of thin-film photovoltaic technology. The project’s core objective is to deliver solar cells with improved energy efficiency, while also introducing innovative applications such as bifacial solar cells and semi-transparent modules. These developments promise to expand the potential of solar energy in sectors such as building integration, agriculture, and mobility.
The General Assembly offered a comprehensive review of the progress made across the various project work packages, with partners sharing insights and defining next steps. Discussions centered on optimizing technological innovations, addressing challenges, and ensuring that the results of Hi-BITS can be effectively transferred to the market.
In addition to reviewing ongoing research and development, the meeting underscored the project's broader vision of contributing to Europe's energy transition. By leveraging cutting-edge solar technology, Hi-BITS aims to strengthen Europe’s position in the global photovoltaic industry, promote sustainability, and drive energy independence.
As the project moves into its next phase, the consortium remains focused on delivering innovative, high-efficiency solar solutions that meet market demands and set new standards for sustainability in the photovoltaic field.
