Hi-BITS General Assembly

Progress and Strategic Discussions in Barcelona

On 13–14 March 2025, the Hi-BITS consortium convened at the Barcelona East School of Engineering (EEBE), Spain, for its General Assembly, hosted by IREC. The meeting served as a platform to review progress, discuss ongoing research, and align future activities towards the development of high-efficiency bifacial thin-film chalcogenide solar cells.

Over two days, project partners presented updates on all work packages. The agenda covered project and data management, material development, advanced solar cell architectures, process monitoring, and sustainability considerations. Discussions also focused on the preparation of the mid-term review, ensuring alignment with project objectives and deliverables.

Technical sessions provided in-depth insights into bifaciality, advanced light management strategies, and upscaling approaches. The meeting concluded with a tour of IREC’s laboratories, offering participants a closer look at state-of-the-art photovoltaic research facilities.

The consortium remains committed to advancing the scientific and technological objectives of Hi-BITS, contributing to the development of efficient, reliable, and scalable thin-film photovoltaic technologies.
