Martin-Luther Universität Halle’s (MLU) Photovoltaics group has more than 10 years of experience in the research and development of CIGS thin film solar cells and their analysis using computer simulation.

A digital twin of the CIGS solar cells has been developed, which allows access to several material parameters. Recently, the research group concentrated on semi-transparent, bifacial and tandem solar cells based on CIGS. In this regard, the group has developed an ITO-based transparent back contact for semi-transparent CIGS devices. The main infrastructures available to carry out the project research activities include i) CIGS laboratory baseline and ii) TCAD software suite on high-performance computing.
